There has been a lot in the news about the events happening all around the world, things like the demonstrations in the United States, and the devastating impact Covid-19 is having on many countries around the world.
We talked today about how lucky we are to live in New Zealand. We had a think about some of the best things about our country. That made us think ... how did we all get here in the first place?
We found out that ...

Some of us have been here for generations. Mrs Lunn's family has. Her family, many generations ago, sailed here from Scotland.
We have some kids in Poutama that have reasonably recently moved to New Zealand. Ethan came to us from Taiwan this term and Timi joined Riverdale last July. Both came for different reasons. We are glad they chose New Zealand to make their home.
We learnt that when people move from one country to another, it is called Migration. Mrs Lunn showed us this video, to help explain what Migration is.

We talked about the Push and Pull factors for why people Migrate.
Then we had to sort the scenarios into what we thought were Push and Pull Factors. This is Keira's slide.
Then we had a look a few photos and had to have a think what Push Factors might be causing the people in the photo to migrate.
Finally we had to think what Pull Factors might bring people to New Zealand. It was pretty easy to come up with ideas. We love living here.
