One of the tasks for this week was to read an article on Killer Whales and record some facts about them on a slide.
Now that you are all such great readers, our nest step is to encourage you to read for a specific purpose. What I mean by that, is that you could set yourself a question you want to know, before you read a story or article. Perhaps you might have a prediction about what is going to happen, so you set out reading to find out if you are right.
Today when you read the article, you were hopefully looking to find facts while you were reading. Having a mission in mind, either a question, or something you are specifically looking for in the text, really does help you focus and to remember what you have read.
Just a word of caution ... make sure that you learn something, you write it in your own words. I know it is tempting to just copy and paste the information, but that will get you in big trouble when you are at high school. So my advice, is to start now, learning to use the information to write your own sentences about it.
Take care!
